Astym® is a physical therapy approach that addresses problems that may develop as the result of trauma, surgery or overuse. It regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and removes unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. Astym treatment has helped countless patients by restoring movement, getting rid of pain and giving them back their lives. It demonstrates success when other treatments have failed. With Astym, patients stay active, workers stay on the job and athletes stay in their sport during treatment.
Astym treats the following conditions:
- Postsurgical scarring
- Post-traumatic scarring
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Shoulder injuries
- Plantar fasciopathy
- Chronic ankle sprains
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Shin splints
- Anterior knee pain
- Hamstring strains
- Hip pain
- Sacroiliac/low back pain
- Most chronic tendinopathies
Back to Golf
If back pain or surgery has affected your golf game, Lake Regional can help you get back in shape.
Back to Golf helps patients dramatically improve their swing by increasing flexibility, strength and balance in just four to eight weeks. Lake Regional Health System has been a licensed Back to Golf provider for more than 10 years. We are one of only a few sites in Missouri to offer this licensed performance and rehabilitation program, which is nationally recognized by GOLF magazine.
If you are recovering from injury, ask your doctor for a referral. Participants may sign up for a four-week or eight-week performance program. For more information, contact Lake Regional Health System Rehabilitation Director Courtney Hulett, PT, at 573.302.2230.
Isokinetic testing is used to test the strength of a specific muscle or muscle group in an isolated environment. It produces specific objective results and can be used to monitor your progress. It is commonly used in testing athletes and industrial injuries to compare with normative data and the unaffected limb to ensure you are ready to return to your specific activity.
This service is only available at Lake Regional Rehab Therapy–Camdenton.
Massage therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. It's an alternative health option to alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stress, muscular overuse, and many chronic pain syndromes.
Lake Regional Massage Therapy is located on the second floor of Lake Regional Hospital near the Rehab Therapy gym. Our therapists offer a combination of Swedish or relaxation massage, therapeutic massage, deep-tissue massage and other techniques. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 30 minutes-$35
- 60 minutes-$60
- 90 minutes-$85
In most cases, insurance does not cover the cost of massage therapy. Payment is expected at the time of service.
To help us serve you better, please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow information gathering, changing and preparation for your treatment. Orthotics are customized inserts into a shoe that provide support for the foot by redistributing weight and realigning foot joints while standing, walking or running. At Lake Regional Health System, we have a custom orthotic lab that allows us to mold inserts for your shoe that you can wear out of the clinic the day of your appointment.
Aligning and cushioning your feet with custom orthotics can lead to decreased knee, hip and lower back pain. Orthotics can treat a variety of foot problems, including:
- General foot pain
- Plantar fasciitis
Contact Lake Regional Physical Therapy to learn how custom-made orthotics can help you.
Because people with Parkinson's disease tend to move slowly and with smaller motions, it's common for them to shuffle or freeze while walking, and falls are also an issue. In most cases, movement problems can be overcome temporarily when patients are cued or prompted—either by themselves or by another person or thing—to move better; for example, take a big step or stand up straight.
Lake Regional physical therapists are certified to offer LSVT BIG, an exercise treatment program designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease move better. Potential gains include walking faster with bigger steps, improved balance and increased trunk rotation.
Traditional physiotherapy for Parkinson's generally aims to improve flexibility, strength or balance to help actions like getting up from a chair, turning over in bed or walking. This traditional approach breaks down each action but requires patients to remember multiple instructions for each movement goal. LSVT patients simply focus on one goal: to think big.
If you think you might benefit from LSVT BIG, talk to your doctor. A physician's order is required for the therapy.
