Nutrition Education

To meet your health goals, you may need one-on-one nutrition education from a registered dietitian.

Registered dietitians help you understand your nutritional needs. They develop customized meal plans and help you adapt recipes for specific dietary needs. They also will give you tips for eating well when eating out.

Patients with many conditions benefit from registered dietitian services. Your doctor may refer you to a registered dietitian to help you manage:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes (type 1, type 2 or gestational)
  • Heart disease
  • High cholesterol
  • Kidney disease
  • Obesity
  • Other medical conditions requiring nutrition intervention

Registered dietitians provide nutrition education both to hospitalized patients and to patients who have a doctor's referral. At Lake Regional, outpatient consultations take place in the registered dietitians' office, located at the hospital. Appointments are required. We recommend checking with your insurance provider regarding your coverage for registered dietitian services.
