Stacy Young, FNP-C
Stacy Young, FNP- C, cares for patients at Lake Regional Neurology.
Young began working at Lake Regional Health System in 2006 as a patient care tech. After becoming a nurse, she worked on Lake Regional’s Stepdown and Intensive Care units. She continued her education to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing and as part of that education, completed rotations in Lake Regional clinics.
“All of my previous experience had been in the acute care setting, so my time in the clinics gave me a new perspective,” Young said. “I realized that if I could help people stay well in the clinic setting, then I could help them avoid acute issues and hospitalization. At that point, I changed gears and established a goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.”
Young earned a master’s degree in nursing to become a certified family nurse practitioner. She has long had a clinical interest in stroke and is excited to be at Lake Regional Neurology.
“Working as a nurse on the Stepdown unit, I was on the multidisciplinary stroke team and helped implement Lake Regional’s stroke program,” she said. “It was fascinating to be a part of that process and to watch the evolution of our services. Now I’ve come full circle, seeing patients for follow-up care in the clinic setting.”
