Randy G. Brown, M.D., FACS

Biography

Dr. Brown has worked intermittently at Lake Regional for 25 years. He has served as a locum surgeon since the 1997 inception of Lake Regional’s cardiovascular surgery program. A locum is a medical provider who covers while another provider takes time off. He joined full time in 2021.

“With the growth of the region and expansion of service lines at Lake Regional, it is a natural transition and opportunity for me to join the hospital on a full-time basis,” Dr. Brown said. “I look forward to being part of Lake Regional’s continued growth while providing excellent health care to the people of the lake region.”

Before joining Lake Regional full-time, Dr. Brown was a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Mercy Clinic in Joplin, Missouri. He also served as assistant professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the Joplin branch of Kansas City University of Medicine. Previously, he served as chief of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Dr. Brown earned his medical degree from University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – Tulsa. He served a general surgery residency at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – Tulsa and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.
