Miriam Borden, M.D.
Biography
Miriam Borden, M.D., cares for patients at Lake Regional Arthritis and Rheumatism.
Dr. Borden treats diseases of the soft tissues, joints and muscles, including:
· arthritis
· joint and back pain
· fibromyalgia
· soft tissue rheumatism, such as tendonitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more.
· connective tissue diseases, such as lupus, scleroderma and polymyositis
“I take time to educate my patients about their conditions,” Dr. Borden says. “When patients know what the condition is and what to expect, they feel less anxious and are better partners in managing their health. I also educate my patients about their medications. I’ve found patients are more compliant with taking their medications if they know why they are taking them and potential side effects.”
In addition to caring for patients at Lake Regional Arthritis and Rheumatism, Dr. Borden also oversees infusion treatments for her patients in Lake Regional Hospital’s Multiservices Department. Infusion therapy, also called intravenous or IV therapy, may be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis and ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory back disease.
Dr. Borden joined Lake Regional in 2004.
