Harbaksh Sangha, M.D.
Harbaksh Sangha, M.D., MBA, cares for patients with kidney disease at Lake Regional Nephrology. He also provides critical care to patients in Lake Regional’s Intensive Care Unit.
The opportunity to practice both of his specialties — nephrology and critical care medicine — drew Dr. Sangha to Lake Regional Health System.
"It goes back to the patients," he said. "This is what I love to do. I was looking for a place where I could take care of patients who are critically ill or who have a kidney problem. Lake Regional offers a good mix of both of these specialties. Also, my interaction with Lake Regional administration was very encouraging. It’s clear the administration is committed to providing patients with the best care possible and to providing physicians the support they need to do that."
When caring for patients, Dr. Sangha takes time for effective communication.
"It is very important to explain to patients what their diagnosis is, what you are treating, what the treatment entails, the goals of treatment and the possible side effects," he said. "Good care requires a lot of communication about what the problem is and how to tackle it."
Dr. Sangha is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology and critical care medicine. Before joining Lake Regional in 2018, he cared for patients at University of Missouri Health Care for 12 years, including his time as a resident and fellow. In addition to caring for patients and serving as a medical director, he was also an award-winning associate professor of clinical medicine.
