Fassil Mesfin, M.D., PhD
Dr. Mesfin is the director of the Complex Spine and Spine Oncology program in the Division of Neurological Surgery at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He is also a provider at the MU Neurosciences Center Spine Program, where he specializes in complex spine tumor surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures and pain modulating procedures, such as steroid injections, sympathectomy, spinal cord stimulator placement and intrathecal pump placement. He has performed numerous peripheral nerve procedures, including tumor excision, carpal tunnel release and repair/decompression of damaged nerves.
At Lake Regional Orthopedics, Dr. Mesfin sees patients with a wide range of neurologic and spine conditions, including brachial plexus injury; brain and spine tumors; congenital and developmental brain and spinal malformations; lumbar stenosis; lumbar radiculopathy; myelopathy; neck injuries; neuralgias; neuritis; scoliosis; slipped disk or herniated disk; spinal cord injury; spinal fracture; spinal stenosis; spondylolisthesis; and ulnar neuropathy.
Dr. Mesfin is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He completed a fellowship in neurosurgical spine oncology, including complex spine and stereotactic radiosurgery training, at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Mesfin completed residency training at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY.
