Evgeniya “Eugenia” Banina, M.D.
Biography
Evgeniya "Eugenia" Banina, M.D., a board-certified internal medicine physician, cares for adult patients at Lake Regional Clinic - Eldon. She provides preventive care and chronic disease management, as well as treatment for acute health needs.
Dr. Banina sees her primary job as not just treating illnesses but also caring for how people feel. She admires the philosophy of Sir William Osler, a founding professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, who said: “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”
“In my everyday work as a physician, I try to understand the patient and the context of that patient’s problem in order to find an individual approach,” Dr. Banina said. “It is important to design the treatment plan that best fits that patient.”
Dr. Banina earned her medical degree from First Moscow State Medical University and completed a residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University in Odessa. Before beginning her clinical training, she attended a two-year post-doctoral fundamental science research program at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which helped her better understand living systems and life processes — “valuable experience I use to find optimal ways to predict, prevent, diagnose and treat disease,” she said.
Dr. Banina joined Lake Regional in 2019.
