The HK’s golf tournament benefitting Lake Regional Health System is one of the lake’s favorite traditions, and this year brings new excitement to the event. To start, the event has a new name, HK’s Lake of the Ozarks Open, and play stretches across two days — Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20 — and two Lake of the Ozarks premier golf courses — The Cove and Porto Cima.
“The HK’s committee introduced a new name to draw attention to new opportunities in 2022,” said Peter Brown, chairman of the HK’s committee. “This year’s event offers more golf, more giveaways and more on-course events. Participants will have fun and will walk away with a good feeling, knowing they’ve helped advance local health care.”
In more good news, HK’s will continue its affiliation with the Kansas City Chiefs. Dante Hall, a Chiefs wide receiver and special teams player, will serve as the event’s honorary chair. Hall, a two-time NFL Pro Bowler, played for the Chiefs from 2000 to 2007. He will be joined by Kansas City Chiefs Ambassadors Keith Cash, Deron Cherry, Dustin Colquitt and Danan Hughes.
In addition to golf, the schedule of events includes a Rooftop Party at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at The Lodge of Four Seasons Rooftop Bar for all players and select sponsors. Sax on the Beach will provide entertainment, and guests will enjoy signature chef food stations, as well as live and silent auctions. There also will be a virtual auction for the public at HKsGolf.com.
Two Days of Play
The format for HK’s Lake of the Ozarks Open will be a best-ball competition with four-person teams. Each player on each team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round. After each hole, the player on each team with the lowest score on the hole (or “best ball”) provides the team’s score. There will be course refreshments and meals both days.
On Thursday, May 19, teams will play at The Cove, the Lodge’s signature course, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. The 18-hole, par-71 championship course challenges guests with its rolling greens, 65 bunkers and signature hole 4.
Play will continue on Friday, May 20, at Porto Cima Golf Course, Missouri’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Golf Digest consistently ranks this private course in Missouri’s Top 10 golf courses.
There also will be several closest-to-the-hole and hole-in-one prizes, as well as two putting contests. An awards luncheon will wrap up the event on Friday.
HK’s Lake of the Ozarks Open is limited to 120 players. Registration is $750 per golfer and includes course refreshments, meals and two tickets to the Rooftop Party.
