The New Year is a popular time to try to quit smoking. If you need help succeeding in that goal, come to Commit to Quit, a free weekly support group that meets at 10 a.m. on most Saturdays at Lake Regional Health System. Everyone is welcome.
“No matter how long you have smoked, it’s never too late to quit,” said Jennifer Newman, R.N., BSN, cPT, director of Cardiac Services. “We are here to help.”
Smoking cigarettes kills more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, HIV, guns and illegal drugs combined. It is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, and it does more than cause cancer. It damages nearly every organ in the body, including the lungs, heart, blood vessels, reproductive organs, mouth, skin, eyes and bones.
If you plan to attend Commit to Quit, please call 573.302.2282 by the Thursday before the meeting to confirm the group will meet that week.
