Lake Regional Health System is looking for good-hearted people of all ages to volunteer at the hospital. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles, from delivering mail to staffing a gift shop.

Husband and wife Ray and Linda Landrum have served as Lake Regional volunteers for more than a decade.

“Every day we volunteer, we leave feeling useful and thankful for the opportunity to help others,” Linda Landrum said. “People entering the hospital are usually uneasy about being there. A smiling face and a helpful attitude can make them feel more comfortable.”

Some volunteers serve because they like to keep busy, and others are already busy, but somehow find the time to help others. Most volunteers serve in four-hour shifts.

“A little time, a smile and a willingness to help others is all that is needed to volunteer,” Linda Landrum said. “There is a range of assignments and times that can fit almost anyone’s schedule. It’s the best decision we’ve made to make use of our spare time.”
