Dr. McQueary provides specialized medical and surgical care for the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. Conditions he commonly treats include, but are not limited to, prostate, bladder and kidney cancer; incontinence; urinary tract infections; and kidney stones. He also performs vasectomies.
“We are pleased to have Dr. McQueary join Lake Regional Urology,” said Michael Burcham, Lake Regional vice president of Physician Practices. “At Lake Regional, we are committed to providing close-to-home specialty care. Dr. McQueary has a special interest in helping patients with cancer. Now that he is on our team, we will provide surgical treatments for prostate and kidney cancers that previously were not available at Lake Regional.”
Dr. McQueary said he specialized in urology because of the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with patients while also performing surgeries.
“I also like the oncologic aspect of urology, helping patients through cancer,” he said. “It’s very rewarding being with people during their time of need.”
Dr. McQueary completed medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency in the Division of Urological Surgery at Michigan State University and St. John Providence Health System in Detroit.
Before entering medical school, Dr. McQueary served six years in the Alaskan Air National Guard, with deployments to Qatar and Kosovo. He has taken medical mission trips to the Philippines and Haiti, and in 2006, he paddled 2,312 miles in 57 days in a Mississippi River Expedition. Dr. McQueary and his wife, Kendra, have four daughters and were drawn to the lake by the rural setting.
“My passions outside of surgery are church, family and the outdoors,” he said.
