Lake Regional Health System welcomes Evgeniya “Eugenia” Banina, M.D., to its Eldon clinic. An internal medicine physician, Dr. Banina cares for adults. She provides preventive care, chronic disease management and treatment for acute health needs.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Banina caring for patients in Eldon,” said Lindsay Bentley, director of Clinical Operations. “She provides high-quality medical care and understands the need to treat each patient as an individual.”
Dr. Banina sees her primary job as not just treating illnesses but also caring for how people feel. She admires the philosophy of Sir William Osler, a founding professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, who said: “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”
“In my everyday work as a physician, I try to understand the patient and the context of that patient’s problem in order to find an individual approach,” Dr. Banina said. “It is important to design the treatment plan that best fits that patient.”
Dr. Banina earned her medical degree from First Moscow State Medical University and completed a residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University in Odessa. Before beginning her clinical training, she attended a two-year post-doctoral fundamental science research program at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which helped her better understand living systems and life processes — “valuable experience I use to find optimal ways to predict, prevent, diagnose and treat disease,” she said.
Dr. Banina is married to Anton Kosov, M.D., an internal medicine physician who has joined Lake Regional Clinic – Laurie. Both are looking forward to exploring all the activities the Lake of the Ozarks area has to offer.
Along with Dr. Banina, Lake Regional’s primary care team in Eldon includes family medicine providers Randall Barnes, D.O.; Mitch Bartley, D.O.; Patience McCoy, ACNP, PhD; and Julie Russell, FNP; and a pediatrician, Jason Hagely, M.D.
