Lake Regional Welcomes Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon Randy G. Brown

Lake Regional Health System welcomes Randy G. Brown, M.D., FACS, to Lake Regional Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Brown, who is board certified in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery and general surgery, joins Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon Charles Canver, M.D., FACS, at the clinic.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Brown join our heart care team,” said Jeffrey Robbins, director of Lake Regional Cardiology Services. “Dr. Brown is an innovative and collaborative provider, whose extensive experience will be an asset to our team and community.”

Dr. Brown has worked intermittently at Lake Regional for 25 years. He has served as a locum surgeon since the 1997 inception of Lake Regional’s cardiovascular surgery program. A locum is a medical provider who covers while another provider takes time off.

“With the growth of the region and expansion of service lines at Lake Regional, it is a natural transition and opportunity for me to join the hospital on a full-time basis,” Dr. Brown said. “I look forward to being part of Lake Regional’s continued growth while providing excellent health care to the people of the lake region.”

Before joining Lake Regional full-time, Dr. Brown was a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Mercy Clinic in Joplin, Missouri. He also served as assistant professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the Joplin branch of Kansas City University of Medicine. Previously, he served as chief of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Dr. Brown earned his medical degree from University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – Tulsa. He served a general surgery residency at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – Tulsa and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.

Brown lives in Sunrise Beach. In his free time, he enjoys boating, golfing and traveling with his fiancée, Darla Pobst, who is a nurse anesthetist at Lake Regional.
