Lake Regional Health System welcomes Lyndsay Funke, FNP-C, to Lake Regional Pulmonology. She joins Pulmonologist Joe Sohal, M.D., and nurse practitioners Miriam Carr, FNP-C, and Kim Farris, MSN, APRN, FNP, NP-C, at the clinic.
“Lyndsay has been a nurse at Lake Regional since 2013, and we’re excited to have her stepping into the nurse practitioner role,” said Lindsay Bentley, director of Lake Regional Clinical Operations. “She will come alongside her patients to help them carry out their care plans.”
Patients at Lake Regional Pulmonology receive care for lung disease and respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, emphysema, interstitial lung disease and more.
Funke earned her family nurse practitioner degree from Chamberlain University, based in Addison, Illinois, where she also earned a bachelor’s in nursing.
Born and raised in Missouri, Funke decided to continue her education and become a nurse practitioner in part because of the shortage of health care providers in rural areas.
“Growing up in a rural area near Stockton Lake and still having family in that same small town, I want to give patients an opportunity to be seen and treated close to home, in a familiar setting,” she said, adding she wants her patients to feel comfortable sharing their treatment wishes.
“Presenting patients with options and then discussing which one best fits their lifestyle and treatment goals allows patients to contribute to their care,” she said. “My role is to establish a trusting a positive relationship.”
Funke and her husband, Jason, live in Camdenton with their daughter. Her hobbies include reading, gardening and making cards.
