Are the holidays hard because you miss someone? Find support at Lake Regional Health System’s “Coping with Grief During the Holidays,” a free event 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the hospital’s third floor conference rooms.
This event is for anyone who is grieving, no matter how long ago the loss occurred. The session will include a reflection by the Lake Regional chaplain, as well as tips for coping with the holidays, insights to understanding grief and keepsake ideas. Dee Dee and Brian Johnson, the keynote speakers, will share how they have coped with the death of their 20-year-old son, Cody. Following their presentation, all attendees will be invited to participate in a simple ritual to honor their loved ones. They then will have the opportunity to talk and share with each other over some light refreshments.
Lake Regional also offers a monthly grief support group and a variety of educational programming on such topics as diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. Several health fairs and screenings also are held annually throughout the lake area. For information on upcoming events and the grief support group, visit lakeregional.com/events.
