Lake Regional Presents Online Suicide Prevention Class, Sept. 10

Monday, August 17, 2020

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on Sept. 10 each year to promote global action to help prevent suicides. “Suicide: Closer to Home than You Think,” presented via Zoom, will teach you the warning signs of suicide and where to seek help. The free Zoom class is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, and a recording of the class will later be made public on Lake Regional’s website.

Jacquelyn Christmas, MPA, BSW, with Missouri Department of Mental Health, will present the class. Participants will learn the scope and impact of suicide nationally and in Missouri; the warning signs of suicide; and ways of referring at-risk people to local resources. The virtual class will also dispel common myths that are associated with suicide and provide tips for talking about suicide.
