Lake Regional Health System announces the name of its foot clinic has changed from Lake Regional Podiatry to Lake Regional Foot and Ankle Surgery. The clinic’s doctor, Podiatrist Cody Fox, DPM, FACFAS, is board certified in foot and ankle surgery.
“The clinic’s new name better reflects the range of services that Dr. Fox provides,” said Michael Burcham, vice president of Lake Regional Physician Practices. “Along with general foot care, Dr. Fox specializes in the surgical management of foot and ankle deformities and trauma, making him a valuable member of our Sports Medicine team.”
Along with athletes, Dr. Fox provides care to patients who have struggled with chronic foot and ankle problems. He also treats non-sports-related injuries, such as from a fall or vehicle accident. Treatments include custom orthotics, physical therapy, splinting and surgery, including Achilles tendon repair, arthroscopic (minimally invasive) procedures, bunionectomy, flat foot reconstruction, foot and ankle fusions, fracture repair, high arch reconstruction, neurectomy (nerve removal) and total ankle joint replacement.
Sports drew Dr. Fox to specialize in foot and ankle care. As an undergraduate, he played soccer for Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and had an ankle injury.
“After learning that podiatrists manage traumatic injuries, do reconstructive surgery and work in sports medicine, I realized that’s what I wanted to do,” he said.
Dr. Fox earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa, and completed his residency at Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
