Lake Regional Nurses Receive Excellence Awards

Lake Regional Health System selected five outstanding nurses to honor during National Nurses’ Week, May 6–12. The award committee received 43 nominations from employees wishing to honor their co-workers.

“Our nurses give of themselves every day,” said Melissa Hunter, R.N., MSN, Lake Regional Health System’s senior vice president of Clinical Services and chief nursing officer. “These award winners are the best of the best, and we commend them for dedicating their lives to serving others.”

Sara Clemmons, LPN, Lake Regional Cardiovascular Institute, received the Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year award. This award recognizes a nurse who demonstrates commitment to providing excellent care by participating in quality improvement initiatives and educational opportunities. Clemmons lives in Montreal.

Stacy Young, FNP-C, Lake Regional Neurology, received the Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year award. This award recognizes a nurse practitioner who is a role model for integrity, clinical excellence and a positive attitude. Young lives in Camdenton.

Laurie Butz, R.N., Med/Surg Unit, received the Mentorship award. This award recognizes a nurse who is known for helping other nurses learn and succeed. Butz lives in Osage Beach.

Staci Potts, R.N., Progressive Care Unit, received the Spirit of Nursing award. Florence Nightingale said, “Nursing is an art,” and one must have passion to create masterpieces. This award recognizes a nurse who always looks for opportunities to brighten the day of patients and co-workers. Potts lives in Camdenton.

Erin Rudner, R.N., Med/Surg, received the Rookie of the Year award. This award recognizes a first-year nurse for showing great compassion, excellence in skills and a desire to learn the registered nurse role. Rudner lives in Camdenton.

Lake Regional Health System currently employs approximately 450 nurses — 80 licensed practical nurses, 350 registered nurses and 20 nurse practitioners.

Lake Regional Health System provides comprehensive health care services to the residents and visitors of the lake region. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a three-time recipient of the Missouri Quality Award. Lake Regional Health System also operates primary care, walk-in care, specialty care and rehab therapy clinics; retail pharmacies; and home health and hospice services throughout the lake area.
