After nine months of anticipation, Lake Regional Health System is set to deliver more personalized birth experiences in its new Family Birth Center, opening Tuesday, May 22. To celebrate, Lake Regional will host a Reveal Party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19.
"This Reveal Party will give us a chance to pamper expecting mothers and to show our community the love and care put into every detail of our new Family Birth Center," said Mary Lou Gamm, nurse manager of Lake Regional's new Women's and Children's Unit, which houses the new Family Birth Center.
With the theme "Just in Time for Your Special Delivery," the celebration includes a free brunch and opportunities to tour the new birth center. Attendees also will meet Lake Regional care providers, including OB-GYNs, pediatricians, birth center nurses and the lactation consultant. Door prizes include diapers each month for a year and sessions from Cherrybird Photography, including one for baby's first 48 hours and one "sitter" session, when baby is sitting up at 6 to 9 months. There also will be a personalized gift for all expectant mothers who register by Wednesday, May 16. To register, visit www.lakeregional.com/revealparty or call 573.348.8222.
The new unit will provide a completely modern experience for expecting mothers, their newborns and their families. The facility has 10 comfy private suites equipped for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care — which means mothers check into one room and are in that room throughout their stay. Entries to the suites are angled for privacy. Inside, the suites are designed to feel more like a modern hotel than a clinical space, with inviting artwork, 55-inch flat-screen TVs and comfortable furnishings for overnight guests.
Lake Regional Family Birth Center staff members have a long history of delivering family-centered birth experiences. They work with families to create personalized birth plans and provide extra pampering to families during their stays, including a complimentary celebration meal, a mini-fridge stocked with the mother's selections and featured room service options. The new Women's and Children's Unit also includes a state-of-the-art obstetrical surgical suite, a post-anesthesia care unit and private overnight rooms. Women's services include treatments for pelvic disorders and care following such procedures as hysterectomies. Pediatric patients receive overnight care for such diagnoses as dehydration, RSV, asthma and appendicitis. Learn more at www.lakeregional.com/womensandchildrens.
