To celebrate the opening of its new Family Birth Center this month, Lake Regional Health System will host a Reveal Party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19.
With the theme “Just in Time for Your Special Delivery,” the celebration includes brunch and opportunities to tour the new birth center. Attendees also will meet Lake Regional care providers, including OB-GYNs, pediatricians, birth center nurses and the lactation consultant. Door prizes include diapers each month for a year and sessions from Cherrybird Photography, including one for baby’s first 48 hours and one “sitter” session, when baby is sitting up at 6 to 9 months. There also will be a gift for all expectant mothers who register by Wednesday, May 16. To register, visit www.lakeregional.com/revealparty or call 573.348.8222.
The new Family Birth Center offers a completely modern experience for expectant mothers, their newborns and their families. The facility has 10 comfy private suites equipped for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care — which means mothers check into one room and are in that room throughout their stay. Entries to the suites are angled for privacy. Inside, the suites are designed to feel more like a modern hotel than a clinical space, with inviting artwork, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi and comfortable furnishings for overnight guests.
Birth experiences focus on families and the precious, intimate moments of welcoming a newborn. Lake Regional staff work with families before the big day to create personalized birth plans, which include details ranging from visitors to pain management. After delivery, the care plan includes a quiet, private and peaceful “golden hour” after birth; immediate skin-to-skin snuggling for mothers and babies — including those delivered through C-section; and breast-feeding support that continues after mother and baby go home.
The new Family Birth Center is located inside the all-new Women’s and Children’s Unit on the hospital’s third floor. The unit includes a state-of-the-art obstetrical surgical suite for caesarean sections, a post-anesthesia care unit and private overnight rooms. Women’s services include treatments for pelvic disorders and care following such procedures as hysterectomies. Pediatric patients receive overnight care for such diagnoses as dehydration, RSV, asthma and appendicitis. Learn more at www.lakeregional.com/womensandchildrens.
