Friday, February 21, 2020

Lake Regional Health System is partnering with MU Extension in Camden County to offer two courses in March aimed at improving mental health and wellness.

Instructor Amy Bartels, human development & family science specialist, will lead two separate four-session courses that meet Thursdays in March in Lake Regional Hospital's third floor conference rooms.

Boost Your Brain & Memory
1-3 p.m. March 5, 12, 19 and 26
This course is designed to help participants implement new habits to maintain cognitive health while also practicing new skills for better memory performance.

The class uses a whole-person approach that helps you form new habits to live a healthier lifestyle, remember things better, be more organized, pay closer attention and regulate your emotions. Each participant will receive a workbook including memory exercises, tips on nutrition and exercise, and summaries of evidence-based research on brain health.

Taking Care of You
6-7:30 p.m. March 5, 12, 19 and 26
This course was developed to help participants reduce stress levels and improve lifestyle behaviors. During the four program sessions, participants learn about concepts and practical strategies they can incorporate into their everyday lives to better manage life’s challenges through discussions, mini-lectures and experiential opportunities. Program participants are provided opportunities to practice strategies during the program sessions and are encouraged to use program strategies outside of class.

Each course costs $40, and registration is required. For more information or to register, call 573-346-2644 or email bartelsa@missouri.edu.
