Friday, May 19, 2017

Lake Regional Health System is pleased to announce the 2017 Beacon Award winners. The recipients — Stacy Anstine, Dee Ballard, Tony Kauten, Necolle Mundy and Donna Scott — represent the Lake Regional values of patient-centered care, commitment to community, clinical excellence, service excellence and integrity. Beacon Award recipients are nominated anonymously by their peers and will be recognized at a reception held May 31.

Stacy Anstine, RT(R)(T), CMD, winner of the Beacon of Patient-Centered Care, serves as a certified medical dosimetrist in Lake Regional Cancer Center. She was commended for striving to meet and exceed patients' requirements, ensuring their safety and always seeking what is best for Lake Regional's patients. Anstine is from Four Seasons, Mo.

"Stacy goes above and beyond to create the safest, most effective plan for every patient," one nominator wrote. "She is devoted to completing plans as quickly as possible to ensure each patient can start treatment as quickly as possible, with the highest quality treatment plan."

Dee Ballard, R.N., winner of the Beacon of Commitment to Community, is a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. She was commended for exhibiting a strong sense of duty and accountability to the public. Ballard is from Camdenton, Mo.

Several nominators mentioned Ballard's work with Lake Regional's sexual assault nurse examiner, or SANE, program.

"Dee built the program from the ground up in 2007," one nominator wrote. "In the last three years, more than 1,200 patients have been treated through Lake Regional's SANE or Kid's Harbor program. It was Dee who saw a need within our community and sought out a means with which to meet that need."

Ballard's community involvement includes serving as director of SANE; executive director of Lake Area Sexual Assault Response Team, or SART; medical liaison for Kid's Harbor; and lead investigator for Southwest Missouri Forensics, Camden County Medical Examiner's Office.

Tony Kauten, PharmD, winner of the Beacon of Clinical Excellence, is the clinical coordinator for the hospital pharmacy. He was commended for providing health care that is evidence-based, resulting in quality outcomes. Kauten is from Kaiser, Mo.

Examples of Kauten's clinical excellence include his efforts to strengthen Lake Regional's pediatric clinic services and improve patient satisfaction with local respiratory distress treatment options, as well as his work building evidence-based order sets for providers in Lake Regional's new medical record system.

"His can-do attitude and dedication to Lake Regional Health System are second to none and serve as an example for others to follow," one nominator wrote.

Necolle Mundy, winner of the Beacon of Service Excellence, is a housekeeper. She was commended for committing to provide excellent service to each person Lake Regional serves while building healthy relationships with fellow staff and Lake Regional guests. Mundy is from Osage Beach, Mo.

Nominators praised Mundy's caring attitude.

"She is responsible for keeping our hospital clean, inviting and safe and goes beyond what is expected of her and shines a bright helpful light wherever she walks," wrote one nominator. Another noted: "She is always attentive to others and never puts her busy schedule ahead of being courteous and sensitive to each situation."

Donna Scott, winner of the Beacon of Integrity, is posting lead in Patient Financial Services. She was commended for being honest, truthful and ethical in relationships and business activities. Scott is from Pittsburg, Mo.

Scott's peers noted she always has a smile and treats everyone with utmost respect.

"Donna works for our patients," one nominator wrote. "She always keeps the patient in mind and works tirelessly to make sure cash is posted correctly to the patient's accounts."
