Lake Regional Health System is pleased to announce its 2021 True Blue Award winners. The recipients, Rachel Bailey, from Richland; Ron Lopez, from Linn Creek; and Harjyot “Joe” Sohal, M.D., from Osage Beach, demonstrate Lake Regional’s three core values: commit to each other, encourage excellence and care more than expected.
“Dr. Sohal, Rachel and Ron are each exemplary team members,” said Dane W. Henry, FACHE, Lake Regional CEO. “In every encounter — whether with patients, patient family members or fellow Lake Regional teammates — they do more than expected because they care more than expected. I am proud to spotlight their commitment to our values and congratulate them on earning this honor.”
Harjyot “Joe” Sohal, M.D., winner of the True Blue Physician of the Year Award, has been with Lake Regional since 2017. He is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist — roles that put him on the frontline in helping COVID-19 patients. His teammates commended him for being an exceptional leader who inspires others to give their all.
“Dr. Sohal consistently places the patients’ interest above all else,” one nurse wrote. “He truly wants all of us to provide the best care possible to our community.”
“Dr. Sohal, thank you for always being kind and understanding to your patients, families and staff,” another nurse wrote.
Rachel Bailey, winner of the True Blue Leader Award, is manager of Lake Regional Clinic – Lebanon, Lake Regional Express Care – Lebanon, Lake Regional Occupational Medicine and Lake Regional Workforce Wellness. She has worked at Lake Regional since 2016. Her teammates commended her for her strong communication skills, her commitment to safety and her positive attitude in facing challenges.
“Rachel Bailey works tirelessly to improve the lives of the employees working for her, the patients who come into the different clinics she manages, the community that the clinics support and the Lake Regional employees,” one physician wrote. “She treats everyone with respect and kindness.”
“She always helps anyone and everyone who calls or relies on her for help to keep our teams safe,” one fellow clinic manager wrote.
Ron Lopez, winner of the True Blue Employee Award, is a Lake Regional security officer. In addition to patrolling and responding to calls, he also provides on-the-job training for new officers. He has worked at Lake Regional since 2014. His teammates commended him for providing exceptional experiences to patients and staff alike, for innovating to improve safety and for proudly making his days about serving others.
“Ron readily takes on additional duties, is available for call-ins and never complains when asked to do two jobs at once,” a supervisor wrote. “He deliberately sets a positive example for others.”
“Ron does an amazing job with patients,” one director wrote. “He’s just smooth, calm. And we feel safe having him there.”
