On April 1, Lake Regional Family Birth Center received a CuddleCot in honor of Cohen Michael Isenberg from the Blake Wagner Foundation. Established in honor of Crystal and Shawn Wagner’s son, the Blake Wagner Foundation gives parents grieving the loss of a stillborn baby the gift of time.

“We want people to know it’s OK to hold their babies, to take those photos, and to take time to love and, most importantly, to heal,” said Crystal Wagner, of Vienna, Missouri, when presenting the CuddleCot to Lake Regional Family Birth Center.

The CuddleCot is a small cooling unit hidden in a bassinet. This device gives parents time to bond with their babies and to take their time in saying goodbye.

More time is something that Laura and Clayton Isenberg, of Henley, Missouri, wished they would have had when grieving the loss of their son, Cohen. Their family helped raise funds to purchase the CuddleCot given to Lake Regional Birth Center.

“Like Crystal, I encourage families to hold their babies,” Laura Isenberg said. “I wish we would’ve spent even more time to really look at Cohen and take him all in. We encourage other families to take that time with their babies.”

Mary Lou Gamm, director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Lake Regional, thanked both families for their generous donation.

“Thank you for sharing your stories and honoring your sons,” she said. “Their legacy lives on in the memories and healing this gift will bring to families.”
