“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Bonacquisti to Lake Regional,” said Michael Burcham, vice president of Lake Regional Physician Practices. “We take pride in providing the lake area with specialists who provide exceptional care.”
Dr. Bonacquisti is a board-certified otolaryngologist, a physician trained in the medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose and throat diseases and disorders. He specializes in the treatment of allergy conditions and also offers advanced otolaryngology procedures, such as Coblation for tonsil and adenoid surgery; treatment for sleep apnea; CT-guided sterotactic sinus surgery; and removal of thyroid nodules and goiters when indicated, as well as other neck masses and skin lesions/tumors. He also evaluates and treats hoarseness; swallowing difficulties; oral and throat lesions; and masses, including cancer.
Dr. Bonacquisti also cares for pediatric patients, treating a full range of diseases and disorders, including chronic ear infections that require tubes.
A love for learning and desire to work with his hands drew Dr. Bonacquisti to ENT.
“ENT combines the need to maintain a medical knowledge base with precise surgical skill,” he said. “I also enjoy working with all ages of patients from birth to seniors. It is a blessing and a privilege.”
With all of his patients, communication is key, Dr. Bonacquisti added.
“I have not completed my job of caring for my patients until I have provided them with an understanding of their condition and the treatment plan,” he said. “Knowledge always increases the opportunity for successful outcomes.”
Dr. Bonacquisti earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey. He completed a residency in otorhinolaryngology at Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. He also completed a neurosurgical fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and two years of a neurosurgical residency at Saint Louis University Hospital. He completed a surgical internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
He said he admires Lake Regional’s approach to health care delivery.
“Lake Regional has remained independent, which enables it to retain control of quality and fine tune the care to the community,” he said. “And, Lake Regional is committed to providing a wide scope of care locally and demonstrates incredible success in doing so.”
Dr. Bonacquisti grew up an hour from the beach in a suburb of Philadelphia, and while he served in the US Navy, he and his wife, Debbie, were always near the water.
“I learned boating and sailing while still in grade school, and my wife and I took additional sailing and boating instruction while in the Navy,” he said. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to live at the lake.”
Dr. Bonacquisti also has played piano since childhood and is a part of his church’s worship team. He enjoys hunting, good food, hiking and biking. He and Debbie have two daughters, one at the lake and one in Los Angeles.
