During National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 24–30, Lake Regional Health System recognizes its laboratory professionals and celebrates their dedication as crucial members of the health care team. The CDC reports that 70% of today’s medical decisions depend on laboratory test results.
“Our laboratory professionals work together to provide accurate results for patients,” said Joanne Reed, director of Lake Regional Laboratory Services. “Every day — and night — patients depend on our lab professionals to perform tests that will provide a diagnosis and lead to their treatment plan.”
Lake Regional Laboratory Services currently has 36 employees, who specialize in blood bank services, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, histology, microbiology, phlebotomy and serology. In fiscal year 2021, Lake Regional Laboratory Services completed 578,387 lab procedures, including 28,448 COVID tests. The lab is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
