Lake Regional Announces Conversion to ONE Portal for Health System Patients

Lake Regional Health System is pleased to announce patients will have secure access to all of their Lake Regional health information via one convenient online portal, beginning in May.

"For several years, Lake Regional has operated a portal for our clinic patients that was separate from the portal used by patients who visited the hospital or Imaging Center," said Scott Poest, chief information officer at Lake Regional Health System. "Next month, our clinics and hospital will begin sharing one integrated electronic medical record platform, making a single patient portal possible. We believe our customers will enjoy the convenience of one login and one place to view all of their health information."

The new version of the Patient Portal, available Tuesday, May 2, gives patients access to a wide range of health information, including laboratory and radiology reports; medication lists; allergies; visit history; discharge/after care information; and more. Patients also can access their billing statements, view outstanding balances and submit payments online through their Portal. In addition, patients can request updates to their demographic profile, such as phone number or address changes.

The updated Portal also allows patients to request appointments with their primary care providers and track their appointments online. Patients can request appointments for specific timeframes, add comments and contact preferences, and receive an email confirmation once an appointment is scheduled. A central appointment page displays their list of scheduled and pending appointments.

Email notifications alert patients to any new activity on their Portal, such as test results, messages or appointments.

During the conversion to a single Patient Portal, existing Lake Regional portals — clinic and hospital/Imaging Center — will be unavailable April 27 through May 1. Then only visits and reports from May 2 into the future will be available on patients' portals. The Healow app used by clinic patients also will be discontinued May 1.

"After the conversion is complete, only your most recent health summary will be listed on your updated portal," Poest said. "Previous summaries and results will not carry over. Therefore, we are encouraging patients to print any past reports, such as lab results, they wish to keep by Wednesday, April 26."

The new Patient Portal is a result of the health system's transition to a new integrated electronic medical record platform, MEDITECH 6.1 EHR. The phrase ONE Patient, ONE Record, ONE Organization summarizes the benefits of moving to this new platform, which helps providers coordinate their patients' care and is used from the time a patient schedules an appointment, all the way through outpatient and inpatient procedures and billing.

Individuals already enrolled in the hospital/Imaging Center portal will automatically be enrolled in the new portal. Usernames and logins will not change, but users will enjoy some updated features.

First-time portal users and existing clinic portal users will be eligible to enroll in the portal following their first visit to any Lake Regional location where they provide an email address during registration. For details, click "ONE Portal Coming Soon."
