Join Lake Regional and Fight Cancer with Pinktober Events, Fundraiser

Thursday, September 29, 2022

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Lake Regional Cancer Center invites the community to join the fight against cancer with three Pinktober events.

“Your engagement will raise awareness, encourage those in the fight and support our mission to continue providing exceptional cancer care right here at the lake,” said TJ Sweet, director of Lake Regional Cancer Center. “Let’s come together to make a difference this Pinktober.”

Pinktober at Shawnee Bluff Winery

5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, Shawnee Bluff Winery, 2430 Bagnell Dam Blvd

Presented by Jasen Jones, all proceeds from this event benefit Lake Regional Cancer Center. There will be a silent auction, raffle and live music. There also will be a pink-out contest: The person best dressed in pink will win a certificate for a free mammogram at the Lake Regional Imaging Center. Shawnee Bluff will donate all sales for the entire day to Lake Regional Cancer Center. For more information, contact Jasen Jones at 314.401.5518 or jjones@oldkinderhook.com.

Pinktober Mammothon

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, Lake Regional Imaging Center

Lake Regional is making it easy for women to check that first mammogram off their list with a special scheduling opportunity just for first-timers. Women can make an appointment for the Pinktober Mammothon if they are at least 40 years old and have never before received a mammogram. These appointments are for screening mammograms — not diagnostic mammograms — which means they are not for women who have a breast lump, change in breast appearance or breast pain. Registration is required and opens Wednesday, Oct. 5, at lakeregional.com/FirstMammo. Insurance will be billed, or there is a self-pay option. For more information, call Lake Regional Public Relations at 573.348.8222.

Pinktober Flags, Signs

Show your support for breast cancer patients by purchasing “Fight Cancer” feather flags and yard signs. The tall feather flags are $250 each, and the yard signs are $50 each. All proceeds benefit Lake Regional Cancer Center. For more information, call Trish Creach, executive director of Lake Regional Philanthropy, at 573.348.8376. Order flags online at lakeregional.com/JoinTheFight.

Not able to participate in these events? You still can join the fight by making a donation today at lakeregional.com/DonateNow.
