“We are pleased to welcome Family Nurse Practitioner Kimberly Collins to Lake Regional’s Laurie clinic,” said Michael Burcham, vice president of Lake Regional Physician Practices. “She has a strong background in family practice and will help ensure that residents of Laurie have convenient access to primary care.”
As a nurse practitioner, Collins has advanced education and clinical training and can provide preventive and acute health care services for patients of all ages.
Listening, she said, is essential to providing good care.
“It is important to listen and connect with patients to develop a partnership,” she said. “It is this collaboration that produces an achievable, realistic health care plan.”
Originally from the small town of Anna, Illinois, Collins earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Saint Louis University. For the past six years, she has lived at the lake and worked at Fort Leonard Wood, providing care for the families of service personnel and retired veterans. She said she is looking forward to joining the Lake Regional team.
“Lake Regional is an impressive organization,” she said. “It has been growing and reaching out to our surrounding communities. Joining Lake Regional gives me the opportunity to work in and help support the community where I live.”
Collins and her husband, Don, have two grown children and enjoy hosting them at the lake.
