Lake Regional Health System welcomes Cardiologist Jennifer Docheé, M.D. Dr. Docheé provides heart care to adult patients at Lake Regional Heart and Vascular, located in the specialty suite on the second floor of Lake Regional Hospital.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Docheé join our heart care team,” said Jennifer Newman, R.N., BSN, cPT, director of Lake Regional Cardiac Services. “Heart care is essential in our community, and adding Dr. Docheé helps ensure we can serve patients coming to us from throughout mid-Missouri.”
For as long as she can remember, Dr. Docheé has wanted to care for hearts.
“I was 4 years old when I told my father I was going to become a doctor and heal his heart,” Dr. Docheé said. Sadly, she did not have the chance. Her father passed away from a heart attack when Dr. Docheé was 10.
“Although it was hard for me, it gave me a sense of direction,” Dr. Docheé said. “I’m very passionate about heart care. I’ve dedicated my life to it, and I thank God for putting that passion in me.”
The most rewarding part of her work, Dr. Docheé said, is giving people renewed hope.
“People equate life to the heart,” she said. “When someone learns this vital organ isn’t functioning, this is devastating news. But I can say: ‘It’s like a car. It’s having problems, but we can fix it.’ I will do my best for you.”
As a cardiologist, Dr. Docheé diagnoses and treats heart disorders and related conditions. Her services include coronary angiography; coronary angioplasty and stent placement; complex, high-risk coronary intervention; coronary rotablation; coronary intravascular ultrasound; coronary flow evaluation; and peripheral vascular angiography and stent placement. She takes a special interest in managing cardiovascular disease in women.
Originally from Chicago, Dr. Docheé earned her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She then completed a cardiology fellowship at Texas Tech University in El Paso, Texas, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts.
In her free time, Dr. Docheé enjoys spending time with her family, working out and reading — especially about the latest findings in heart care.
“If there’s something new out there, I want to know,” she said.
