Lake Regional Health System welcomes Dale Lockhert, M.D., to Lake Regional Clinic – Lake Ozark, located at 1870 Bagnell Dam Blvd. Dr. Lockhert is a board-certified doctor of internal medicine, which means he provides in-depth care to adult patients.
“We welcome Dr. Lockhert to our team of primary care providers,” said Michael Burcham, vice president of Lake Regional Physician Practices. “As a doctor focused exclusively on caring for adults, he has significant experience managing chronic conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.”
Dr. Lockhert began his health care career as a nurse and has been a doctor for more than 20 years. He spent the last 18 years practicing internal medicine in Kennett, Missouri. He has worked both in primary care and as a hospitalist. He finds primary care particularly rewarding because he’s able to develop relationships with his patients.
“I’m very upfront and honest with people, and I like explaining to them their conditions and what they can do to improve their quality of life,” he said, adding he prefers to empower his patients to take charge of their health instead of just prescribing them medication.
“Many of my patients face significant challenges, such as disability and depression, so it’s important to offer them hope and motivation,” he said. “I like to ask about their life goals. If they can focus on what they love, that can help them quit smoking, change their diet and start exercising. I want them to enjoy life and be a part of it.”
Originally from Idaho, Dr. Lockhert earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, based in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.
Dr. Lockhert is married to Amy Lockhert, M.D., a family medicine physician. They have five children. Their family enjoys active outdoor recreation, including snow skiing and water skiing.
Along with Dale Lockhert, M.D., Lake Regional’s primary care team in Lake Ozark includes Grant Barnum, D.O., FACOI; Jeannie Carlton, APRN-BC; Karen Hayes, PhD, ACNP; Christine Livek, M.D.; and Virginia Nagy, M.D.
