Calling all women! Here’s a chance to take action for your health.
"The Women’s Health Fair provides a convenient time and place for women to prioritize their health and get important screenings and health information,” said Billye Bennett, R.N., Lake Regional education coordinator. “We hope women will come with their sisters, mothers and friends. Door prizes and complimentary brunch will help make this a fun event.”
Women will receive several free screenings:
- blood pressure
- body fat analysis
- body mass index
- pulmonary function tests
- peripheral artery disease
- take-home colorectal cancer screening kits
Lake Regional staff representing several departments will interact with women at information booths. Women will learn about osteoporosis, skin cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, menopause, incontinence and more. Flu shots will be available from Lake Regional Pharmacy, and attendees also will receive coupons for discounted mammograms and will be able to schedule a future mammogram at the event.
In September, Lake Regional will begin offering 3-D mammograms. Also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, 3-D mammography has two main benefits: 1) It finds smaller cancers at an earlier stage, when cancer is easier to treat, and 2) it reduces the chance that the test will indicate cancer when no cancer is present, known as a false positive result.
