Adult Mental Health First Aid (Eldon)
Sometimes first aid isn’t a bandage or CPR or calling 911. Sometimes first aid is YOU.
You are more likely to encounter someone in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Learn how to help at Adult Mental Health First Aid. This training teaches participants how to recognize signs of substance abuse and mental illness, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and disorders involving psychosis. Participants also learn how to provide initial support and connect individuals to appropriate care.
Adult Mental Health First Aid is designed for employers, police officers, health care workers, first responders, faith leaders and other caring citizens. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
Autumn Newman, Mental Health First Aid coordinator with Compass Health, will lead the class.
The class and lunch are free. Registration is required. To register, visit mhfamissouri.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
