Adult Mental Health First Aid

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary.

Topics Covered:

•Common signs and symptoms of mental illness.
•Common signs and symptoms of substance abuse.
•How to interact with a person in crisis.
•How to connect the person with help.

The course requires advanced registration. Participants must register 2 weeks in advance and complete 2 hours of self-paced training at least 3 days prior to the course date.

Adult Mental Health First Aid is designed for employers, police officers, health care workers, first responders, faith leaders and other caring citizens. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
