An estimated 40 million Americans experience speech, language, or hearing disorders. Without early detection, treatment takes longer and is more expensive.
At Lake Regional, our goal is to assist each patient in regaining and optimizing skills for participation in a well-rounded lifestyle. Our speech therapy department evaluates and treats speech, language, cognitive, voice and swallowing disorders. Speech therapy services include assessment, treatment, and support for people of all ages. We employ experienced speech therapists who treat all of these areas throughout the life spectrum, from birth through senior living.
Speech therapy services for adults encompass a variety of diagnoses and treatment approaches. Commonly, speech therapists treat adults who have had a stroke or an acquired brain injury. Other neurological diseases/processes that affect these areas include Myasthenia Gravis, Multiples Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, ALS, Parkinson Disease, and dementia, among others.
We offer speech therapy services for adults across multiple settings, including acute patient care, home health, skilled nursing and outpatient therapy at four area rehabilitation therapy locations.

Children who receive early services are less likely to fall behind developmentally, academically, and socially. Early intervention for speech/language impairment is essential for preventing or managing delays in communication or swallowing development that can be due to the effects of Cerebral Palsy; Down Syndrome; Autism Spectrum Disorder; congenital or acquired brain injury; and more.
Lake Regional’s speech therapy department offers procedures and treatments that are individualized to meet the needs of each child. Our therapists also work to assist parents and caregivers in transitioning school-based services. Pediatric services cover the ages of birth to 17 years.
