Expectant mothers who are at least 30 weeks pregnant and their spouses or labor coaches are encouraged to attend a prepared childbirth class at Lake Regional. Prepared childbirth classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month in the hospital's third floor conference rooms. Topics covered include: - common/normal changes to expect near the end of pregnancy
- warning signs
- normal labor process
- comfort techniques
- medications and interventions used in labor and delivery
- Cesarean births
- normal newborn appearance and behavior
- what to expect after delivery
- breastfeeding
Participants should bring two pillows and a blanket and wear comfortable clothes. There will be frequent small breaks throughout the day, as well as a one-hour break for lunch on your own. Online registration below is required. The cost of the class is $25 ($20 for those who took a prenatal class at Lake Regional). Payment is expected the morning of the class.
