National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week is Nov. 4-10. During this observance, Lake Regional recognizes medical services professionals - important members of the health care team who are dedicated to thoroughly investigating and verifying the credentials of health care practitioners. These employees also have expertise in areas such as medical staff organization, accreditation and regulatory compliance, and provider relations.
“When you visit a hospital, medical services staff are a part of the health care team you don’t see,” said Tonya Pehle, director of medical staff services at Lake Regional. “They are behind the scenes keeping patients safe by ensuring the credentials of all practitioners are correct and have been verified.”
Since 1992, the first week in November has been recognized as National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week to thank medical service professionals for being “an important role in our nation’s health care system,” according to National Association Medical Staff Services.
More than 100 providers currently are on the Lake Regional Health System medical staff providing comprehensive health care services to the residents and visitors of the lake region. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a two-time recipient of the Missouri Quality Award. Lake Regional Health System also operates primary care, urgent care, specialty and rehab therapy clinics, retail pharmacies and home health services throughout the lake area.
