Adjusting
to a serious health problem often takes time. You may experience depression or
anxiety. Cardiac rehabilitation provides support, not only from staff members,
but also from other patients. You will learn that you aren't alone. Some
patients join Mended Hearts, a support group offered at Lake Regional.
Mended
Hearts is a nationwide support group that has been in existence since 1951. The
group partners with hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centers to help
people affected by heart disease.
Mended
Hearts makes education a top priority when it comes to patient care and
well-being. The group sponsors regular monthly support group meetings where
medical professionals share their knowledge with the audience.
The
Lake Regional Mended Hearts Support Group meets the second Thursday of each
month at 12:30 p.m.
in the hospital's Cardiac Rehab department on the second floor.
