- Holter monitors (ambulatory electrocardiograms) test the electrical activity of your heart while you go about daily activities. Because some heart problems only occur during specific activities, like exercise, this continuous, 24-hour recording is likely to detect any abnormal heartbeats. Patients may be asked to keep a diary of events while wearing the monitor. For information, contact Lake Regional’s EKG Department at 573-302-2235.
- Stress tests (exercise electrocardiograms) record the electrical activity of the heart through mechanical (during exercise) or chemical (using certain medications) means. Tests are conducted while a cardiologist is present, and the results will help your physician prescribe a safe amount of exercise for you. Stress tests are conducted in the Radiology Department on the first floor of Lake Regional Hospital. For information, call 573-348-8363.
