Expectant mothers who are at least 30 weeks pregnant and their spouses or labor coaches are encouraged to attend a prepared childbirth class at Lake Regional. Prepared childbirth classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month in the hospital's third floor conference rooms.
Topics covered include: common/normal changes to expect near the end of pregnancy, warning signs, labor process comfort techniques, medications and interventions used in labor and delivery, Cesarean births, normal newborn appearance and behavior, what to expect after delivery and breastfeeding.
Participants should bring two pillows and a blanket and wear comfortable clothes. There will be frequent small breaks throughout the day, as well as a one-hour break for lunch on your own.
Online registration is required. The cost of the class is $25 ($20 for those who took a prenatal class at Lake Regional). Payment is expected the morning of the class. Cash or checks made out to Lake Regional Health System will be accepted.
