Quality Care, Quality Outcomes

At Lake Regional Health System, quality is part of our culture. Everything we do — from caring for patients to hiring staff — is a process that is continually reviewed and improved until it is the best. This is evident in our clinical successes, as well as our patient satisfaction scores.

Quality Leadership

Lake Regional Health System is a 2010 recipient of the Missouri Quality Award. This prestigious honor, given by the Excellence in Missouri Foundation, is the official state recognition program for excellence in organizational performance and applying quality principles. Lake Regional Hospital previously won this award in 2003.

Clinical Safety

Lake Regional Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, which establishes one of the highest standards for safety and quality care for patients. Teamwork is always a priority, and patient safety and quality care is integrated into all decision making.

Lake Regional consistently outperforms average state and national quality and safety scores, including infection rates. Throughout the past five years, Lake Regional’s surgical site infection rate has remained at or below 1 percent. The national hospital-acquired infection rate average is 2.6 percent for the same surgical categories.

Clinical Excellence

Lake Regional Cancer Center has received Community Hospital Cancer Program accreditation with commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation is granted only to facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and comply with established CoC standards.

Patient Satisfaction

The number of outpatient procedures performed at Lake Regional continues to grow, along with the number of satisfied patients. LRHS staff performs more than 200,000 outpatient procedures, such as colonoscopies, each year.

Patients who responded to questions about their care ranked the Outpatient Services department among the nation’s best for nurses’ concern for their comfort, wait time before a procedure and courtesy toward their family, according to surveyor Press Ganey.

“We make teamwork a priority every day in caring for patients,” said Janny Drover, R.N., director of Outpatient Services. “Our nurses are knowledgeable and compassionate, and that puts our patients at ease. They know they’re in good hands.”
