Lake Regional Health System physicians recently elected new medical staff officers. Michael J. Vierra, M.D., was named chief of staff, Patrick O’Neil, D.O., was elected vice chief of staff and James Neill, M.D., was named secretary/treasurer. In addition, Jeff Jones, D.O., and Robert Nielsen, D.O., were named at-large members.

Newly elected department chairs are as follows: John Patton, D.O., surgery department chair; Becky Simpson, M.D., maternal child health chair; Tony Koch, D.O., medicine/family practice chair; Grant Barnum, D.O., quality committee chair; and Alan Mead, M.D., credentials committee chair.

Each of these physicians will serve two-year terms.

“Congratulations to these physicians,” said Michael E. Henze, CEO. “Lake Regional Health System physicians and employees appreciate their leadership and dedication.”

The medical staff officers act as elected representatives of the medical staff, offering support and suggestions for the board of directors. Their main goal is to ensure patient welfare always takes precedence over other concerns. They also support Lake Regional policies and work with departments to develop continuing education activities and promote ethical conduct.

The medical staff at Lake Regional Health System includes more than 100 providers who care for lake-area residents and visitors. In addition to Lake Regional Hospital, the system operates seven freestanding primary care clinics, 18 specialty clinics, an urgent care clinic, four satellite physical and cardiac rehab therapy sites, three retail pharmacies and home health services. Lake Regional Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a two-time recipient of the Missouri Quality Award.
